How often have we looked at others, thinking 'I could never do that' or 'I could never have that'? Imagine, in this situation thinking that 'I can do or have that too.'

The good news is, we can. Our beliefs, the very thoughts that drive our behaviour are nothing more than beliefs, not concrete truths. Ironically, these beliefs, no matter how limiting they might be, hold immense power over our actions. They create invisible boundaries that confine us to our comfort zones, preventing us from reaching our full potential.

Once we realise, that these beliefs are just beliefs and not fixed truths, we can start to change our thoughts and perceptions that have held us back.

Our first step is to recognise the thoughts we have when we feel disempowered. As we listen to our internal dialogue and what we tell ourselves, we begin our journey of self awareness. We can then start to change our thinking and as we do this, we will, in turn change our thoughts about ourselves, increasing our confidence and in turn, our behaviours will change for a more empowering way.

As we do this, we feel more confident and hopeful, not only about our own capabilities, but also about our future and the possibilities this can offer us.

What beliefs about myself would I like to change?

The term 'living your best life' is used a lot at the moment. Yet, how many people are actually living their best life? And what does living your best life actually mean for you?

Would I know if I was?

What would it feel like?

Where would I be?

Who would I be with?

What would I be doing?

As we start to think about these questions, a variety of thoughts and feelings can surface.

For some of us, the concept of 'our best life' can seem incredibly distant, leading to feelings of anxiety, sadness, despair, a sense of loss of control and regret.

Conversely, some may experience a sense of excitement, hope, happiness and freedom, envisioning a future that aligns with their desires.

The good news is, change can begin today.

If we take a moment to think about what our best life would actually be like, we can imagine a different future. When we envision what it is we want, we can pay attention to the feelings of having it and consider what we would be doing, seeing and hearing?

Documenting these feelings and thoughts, whether through visuals, written or auditory means and continuing to focus on them, causes our mindset to shift.

As our mindset shifts, we open ourselves up to inspiration. This provides us with the next steps we can make, to turn this 'best life' into a tangible reality. Every small step we take can lead us to our best life.

Are you living your best life? If you are, you are an inspiration to others. If not, what would it be and, what one first step could you make today, to bring it into your reality?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming, (NLP) was developed in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder. It is a methodology that explores the relationships between thoughts (neuro), language (linguistic), and patterns of behaviour (programming).

By understanding and adjusting our thought patterns and the words we use, we can consciously and positively make changes, that influence our lives.

We can use NLP in our everyday life by:

Self-Awareness

Observing our own thoughts and language patterns. This self-awareness is the first step in applying NLP in our lives. Paying attention to our internal self-talk, the words we use to describe situations, and the emotions they evoke.

Reframing Negative Thoughts

When we catch ourselves thinking, "I can't do this," we can change it to, "I can learn how to do this." This simple shift can boost our confidence and motivation.

Setting and Achieving Goals

Similar to manifesting, we visualize our goals, using all our senses. See, hear, and feel the success as if it has already happened. This can significantly boost our motivation and commitment to achieving our goals.

Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

When we have thoughts such as, "I'm not good enough," we can replace it with, "I have the skills and resources to improve." This shift can empower us to take action, even if we do not believe it at the time.

Conclusion

NLP is a powerful tool for personal growth and transformation. By understanding the relationships between our thoughts, language, and behaviour, we can start to reshape our everyday life for the better.

As we make incremental steps, over time, we will discover the immense change in the way we think and speak, and the impact this has in achieving our goals and enhancing our well-being.
